It can be understood from the above performance that PET plastics have the advantages of high rigidity, high temperature dimensional stability, high temperature color stability, creep resistance, good surface gloss, easy coloring, and cost-effective.


However, in addition to the advantages, there are also significant disadvantages, such as slow crystallization speed at the mold temperature (70 ~ 110 ° C), poor impact performance and hygroscopic problems. But these shortcomings are not impossible to change, through "modification", you can effectively solve these problems.


Modified PET can have the following five characteristics:


1.Improve mechanical properties: 

The bending strength of modified plastics reaches 200MPa, the elastic modulus reaches 4000MPa, the creep resistance and fatigue are also better, the surface hardness is improved, and the mechanical properties are similar to thermosetting plastics.


2. Improve heat resistance:

Modification treatment can improve the thermal stability of plastics, so that they can maintain stable performance in high temperature environment.


3. Improve weather resistance:

Modification treatment can enhance the resistance of plastics to adverse external factors such as UV light, moisture and oxidation.


4. Improve cost performance:

PET plastics and reinforced PET plastics are highly cost-effective engineering plastics because ethylene glycol used in PET production is almost half the price of butanediol used in PBT production.


5. Improve appearance:

The modified treatment can make the plastic surface lubricated, anti-static, anti-adhesion and easy to clean, and can change the color of the plastic.
