From January to August, the plastic machinery industry completed a total profit of 6.4 billion yuan! Exports were up 18 per cent year on year
Recently, the 2024 China Coating Industry Information Annual Meeting and 2024 China Coating Industry Association Anticorrosive Coating Branch Annual meeting, the 12th China Coating Technology Innovation Summit Forum was successfully held in Qingdao, Shandong Province.
At the meeting, Dongping Su, executive vice president of China Plastic Machinery Industry Association, delivered a main speech on the development status of China's plastic machinery and future market trends. In the report, Dongping Su introduced the economic operation analysis, industry overview, opportunities faced by China's plastic machinery industry from January to August 2024, and looked forward to the future development of China's plastic machinery industry.
Dongping Su pointed out that from January to August this year, 710 enterprises in China's plastic machinery industry completed production of 210,000 units, an increase of 4.5%; Operating revenue of 65 billion yuan, an increase of 9%; Total profit was 6.4 billion yuan, up 1% year on year; The profit margin is 9.8%. There were 179 loss-making enterprises, representing a loss of 25%.
In addition, 200 rules on rubber machinery enterprises operating income of 14.7 billion yuan, an increase of 22%; The total profit was 700 million yuan, up 77% year-on-year; The profit margin is 5 per cent.
In terms of import and export, from January to August 2024, the total import and export volume of plastic machinery (including 15 tax codes) in Chinese Mainland will be 8 billion US dollars, up 8% year on year. Among them, the import volume was 2.3 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 7%; The export value was 5.7 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 18%; The trade surplus was 3.4 billion US dollars, an increase of 44% year-on-year.
Dongping Su stated that by 2023, the global production of plastics will reach 430 million tons, of which China will produce 130 million tons, accounting for about 30%. The upstream and downstream distribution of the plastic industry can be roughly divided into raw materials, machinery and molds, and products. China's plastic machinery production has ranked first in the world for 22 consecutive years, accounting for 50% of the global plastic machinery production and one-third of the global market sales revenue. Export plastic machinery products and accessories to over 200 countries and regions worldwide. 60% of China's plastic machinery products are second rate products in the world, 30% are world-class products, and 10% have begun to lead the world.
From a macro perspective, the opportunities faced by China's plastic machinery industry include comprehensively deepening reform and opening up, promoting high-level technological self-reliance and self-improvement, increasing macroeconomic regulation, coordinating the expansion of domestic demand, and deepening supply side structural reform, all of which are conducive to the development of the industry. From the perspective of the industry's own development stage, plastic machinery is an important component of advanced manufacturing and strategic emerging industries, with strong industrial driving capabilities; In line with the development direction of the technological revolution and with good economic and technological benefits; The product has a wide range of applications and a vast market space. From the perspective of user demand, the plastic products industry is still in an upward development stage, and transformation and upgrading are steadily advancing. The development trend of replacing steel with plastic and wood with plastic provides broad market prospects for the development of the plastic products industry. Two major industries that plastic machinery companies cannot miss: new energy vehicles and the big health industry.
In the future, for the industry, attention should be paid to the continued increase in adverse external environmental impacts, the unstable foundation of domestic economic recovery, the international competitiveness of China Plastics Machinery, and feedback from enterprises on the use of water-based coatings. Starting from reality and not pursuing excellence unilaterally should be a good strategy for dealing with the ever-changing world at present.
